I've been tagged!!
Colleen  has tagged me, so I need to list 6 random things about myself.  hmmm, let me think...
1. My favorite animals have always been reptiles.  I really like snakes and lizards.  We have 2 pet lizards right now.
2. I once promised to never date the person I ended up marrying.
3. I LOVE archeology.  I have even toyed with going back to school for it as a career after my kids are grown.  But that is very unrealistic.
4.I have thrown up into a plastic bag while driving a car (while pregnant).
5. I hate roller coasters, but love water slides (at least in high school I did)
6. I love the Gilmore Girls.  I have seasons 1-4 so far, and can watch them over and over.

I tag Superscuzzy, Bekkielynn, Pinsen5, and jbjhiker!

FINALLY...

Okay, ladies, here are the promised blogs...
Julie- Favorite date, Fall of 1996

I had to think about this one for awhile.  I am choosing a pre-marriage date, since that is when we were actually "dating",and that is probably what you were looking for.
The date I remember the most fondly was while I was away at college in Indiana.  Jeremy came out to visit me.  The rules there were pretty strict, so we couldn't really hang out anywhere except the lobby with a ton of people milling around.  So, we went out to Winona Lake and sat on a lifeguard chair.  It was very cold, so we just sat up there snuggling, talking and looking out at the lake.  I am pretty sure this is the first time he told me he loved me.  Anyway, it was a special day.  I think we went to Noble Roman's for dinner that night- very delicious!

Becky- first kiss (May 9, 1996)
Jeremy worked with my dad when we were first dating, so he would come to my house in the morning and ride to work with my dad.  So, consequently, he would often hang around in the evenings too.  One night they got home, and he just sat on the couch, kind of grumpy, not talking.  (He has a moody disposition, so this wasn't uncommon, although he has gotten a TON better over the last 10 years!).  He finally decided it was time to go, and I walked him out to his car, as was our custom.  He gave me a hug, and apologized for how he had been acting, that he had had a rough day at work.  Then he kissed my cheek and then kissed me.  It was very sweet.  The date is easy to remember because it is his sister's birthday.

Homeschooling:
Right now we are doing Ohio Virtual academy.  I think I will start with pros and cons of this particular program (for me), then address your more specific questions about it.
Pros: Cost- free, with a loaner computer and complete curriculum
Easy to do- just sign on, and look at your lesson for the day- TOTALLY user friendly
Accountability- I really felt I needed this, especially just starting out
       Well done, thorough curriculum
Provides the opportunity for field trips and activities with other OHVA students
Does state testing (I suppose this could be a pro or a con)
Cons: Less freedom than traditional homeschooling
Have to record daily hours- kind of tedious
Not classical, which I tend to favor
Curriculum supposed to take a lot longer than it actually does, but I round up time spent in school.  I also record all church hours and other instructional times (which is allowed)

The way I keep the others busy?  It is a daily challenge.  Our school room is the family room, which also has a play area and craft area.  I will often gate this room, and we will all be in it for the morning.  I try to provide activities for Anna(3) and Keith(5) to do that are also educational.  Laura is only 1, and gave up her morning nap around Christmas, so she can be challenging.  The younger kids have had to adjust to my time schooling Eve, and Eve has had to become flexible with interruptions from the others.  I will often get Eve going on something them do an activity with the others.  It works, but as with everything, there are good and bad days!

So girls, that's it in a nutshell!!

Thanks for your patience!

PS-I didn't really write specifically I do for kindergarten.  I have done "100 Easy Lessons to Teach Your Child to Read" for both Eve and Keith- but probably only the first 50-75 lessons.  Then we start on "Bob" books.  For math, I use what ever I have on hand (Saxon, Bob Jones, various activity books), or just get kindergarten math activities online.  Then I will try to do a few fun units on science or other subjects throughout the year, but not daily. For example, we did a unit on the human body.  I got activities online and books out of the library.  I have generally been pretty laid back with kindergarten, and just focused on teaching them to read.  It has worked for us.  Keith will only next fall be old enough for kindergarten (as far as school), but will probably just have a little head start because we have worked on those things this year, just to keep him busy!

AHHHHH, I need more hours in my day

Sorry, guys for not blogging yet about the chosen topics from Becky and Julie.  I will soon- this week- hold me to it!  As for the homeschooling blog, I may just email you, Becky- it's probably going to be long.  I'll see if I can condense it, though.  Talk to you soon!
